Written by on

The extremely well constructed Ipe bridges and walkways at the Alewife Brook Greenway are being well received by the local community including nature lovers, families, cyclists, joggers and more. The Alewife Brook Greenway has taken many years and the consistent efforts of a wide variety of civic minded organizations and local and state government agencies to come to fruition.

The Ipe decking boards have all been sustainably harvested from reliable chain-of custody suppliers.  The Ipe bridges are a spectacular feature for this lovely conservation project. Ipe is an extremely strong high density hardwood decking material that is known to last beautifully for decades, even with lots of foot traffic.

The redesigned and rebuilt Alewife Brook Greenway features multi-use paths that wind along both sides of the Alewife Brook including the beautiful and long lasting Ipe walkways, bridges and boardwalks. Additional information about the project can be found here. The Alewife Brook Greenway itself is part of an even larger project. Future plans call for an extensive connector system to link and beautify many of eastern Massachusetts' towns.
